Welcome to the Diversity Scene! I am so honored to be able to coordinate this sec- tion of the O-Town Scene geared specifically to the LGBTQ community and its supporters! I look for- ward to providing you with provocative and insightful articles on par with the content that was provided in Diversity Rules Magazine. I love the Oneonta com- munity. It is the community in which I was born and raised. I am grateful that I have the opportunity to live in my hometown as an out gay male and be a part of this great new publica- tion. I am also especially thankful that the community has accepted me for who I am, and embraces my sexuality. I can live in my hometown without fear of being harassed or physi- cally harmed. Oneonta and its inhabitants are what make it what it is; a friendly, inviting community that embraces diver- sity and respects the differences in all people. The Diversity Scene will empower the local LGBTQ community and provide a won- derful information source for what’s going on in the LG- BTQ community. The Diversity Scene will include one of the favor- ites from Diver- sity Rules; Keep Up Now, written by Terry Ludwig. Terry’s articles are based on writ- ings done by her brother Robbie while he was dying from AIDS. Through her writings I felt I knew Robbie intimately and made me wish he were still alive to speak with him and discuss his innermost thoughts that his sister Terry Scene. There will be other writ- ers who have appeared in Diversity Rules as well in the Diversity Scene. They are as excited as I am over being part of the O-Town Scene. They have stories to tell and wisdom to impart to those struggling with their sexuality or those looking for others for support and guidance. Last, I want to take this opportunity to thank The Daily Star for its support of the LGBTQ community. The newspaper has diligently and faithfully stood by me and Diversity Rules. For that I am grateful and on behalf of the LGBTQ community in Oneonta, thank you for your unyield- ing support of equality and justice for all. -Jim Koury LGBT Events is bringing forth through Keep Up Now. I know you will all enjoy Terry’s writings as much as readers of Di- versity Rules did.
