I was entitled to my story. Sharing my story made me feel better and enabled me to go on being a victim. Nevertheless, one day, I grew tired of being a wounded warrior and I grew angry as I watched life pass me by. That's when I stopped being a victim and decided to be a survivor. As the harsh realities of life set in, I supposed her words of encouragement were not meant to be taken literally.
