Born in Rutherford County, on August 28, 1921, he was a son of the late Robert Cohen "Bob" Waters and Laura Etta Turner Waters. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Evelyn "Bess" Murray Waters; a son, Robert Wayne Waters; three brothers, Charles Waters, and Eliga "Bill" Waters and James Waters; and four sisters, Monnie Brackett Stewart, Dess Melton Stewart, Deanie Maddox, and Vene Warlick. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Karen Waters of Myrtle Beach; a granddaughter; two great- grandsons; one great- great-granddaughter; two brothers, Dewitt Waters of Hickory, and Jesse Waters of Hickory; and two sisters, Clara Hefner of Conover, NC and Sue Johnson of Hickory.
