Born in Rutherford County, on August 28, 1921, he was a son of the late Robert Cohen "Bob" Waters and Laura Etta Turner Waters. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Evelyn "Bess" Murray Waters; a son, Robert Wayne Waters; three brothers, Charles Waters, and Eliga "Bill" Waters and James Waters; and four sisters, Monnie Brackett Stewart, Dess Melton Stewart, Deanie Maddox, and Vene Warlick. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Karen Waters of Myrtle Beach; a granddaughter; two great- grandsons; one great- great-granddaughter; two brothers, Dewitt Waters of Hickory, and Jesse Waters of Hickory; and two sisters, Clara Hefner of Conover, NC and Sue Johnson of Hickory. The funeral service was held December 16, 2023 at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church with the Rev. Eddie Padgett and Rev. Kim Clardy officiating. The burial followed in the church cem- etery. Judy was born Friday, September 17, 1943 in Rutherford County to the late Wilburn Gunter and Lenora "Peggy" Powell. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Butch Downs. Born in Gaffney, SC, she was the widow of Ray Lee Philbeck and the daughter of the late Calvin and Oveta Bell Bolin. Shirley formerly worked in textiles and was a mem- ber of Allen Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving Mrs. Philbeck are a daughter, Kathy Blanton (Tony), a brother, William Bolin, a sister, Ann Goode, two grandchildren, and a great-grandson. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Philbeck was preceded in death by a daughter, Audrey Gwen Philbeck, a grandson, Donnie Wayne Philbeck, two brothers, Ancil and H.K. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Carlos and Mary Villanueva, five brothers, two sisters and his eldest son, Joe Jr. Joe is survived by his wife, Diann; sons: Edward (Windy), Scott (Alma) and Jayson; daughters: Nina and Felicia (Michael); six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
