Samuel, the breakout author of The Broad River Trilogy and The Wings Saga, set in Lake Lure and Chimney Rock, has a new novel out for Christmas. "Upon The Highest Bough" was released on November 10 through Amazon. Samuel, who brought her novels to Forest City's Christmas Market last year, said her new book "is a little different than my other novels, and the fi rst I have ever written that will be featured under the "Religious, Spiritual, and Inspirational" categories," she said during a telephone interview. "It is a fi ctional dramatic story, with themes of Christianity and lost faith woven throughout. For some, it may be a hard read, but for all, I hope it will be a meaningful endeavor," she said. The community gathering will be held at Rumbling Pointe, 2417 Buffalo Shoals Road, Lake Lure. The event will include carolers, a holiday story reading, piano with sing alongs, silent auction, catered hors d/oeuvres and beverages; fi re pit with s'mores. Sponsors include the Rumbling Point, Carolina Foothill Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of the Hickory Nut Gorge. All proceeds from ticket sales, silent auctions will benefi t the outreach center.
