Born in Richmond, VA, he was the son of the late John and Mattie Toney Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Smith. He is survived by his wife Sandy Smith of the home; sons, Jordan Smith and wife Kaitlyn of Waynesville and Chris Johnson and wife Alicia of Mooresboro; sis- ters, Diane Dedmond and husband Roger and Shirley Peay and husband Coley, both of Shelby; and two granddaughters. CHARLES RAY DANIEL Charles Ray Daniel, age 83, of Rutherford County, NC, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023. Ray was born to the late Charles Robert Daniel and Mildred Davis Daniel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sybil Walker Daniel, and daughter Renee. Ray leaves behind cher- ished memories with his surviving daughter, Debby Hord, and her husband, Larry. He is also survived by two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
