NEW ENGLAND SWISS STEAK Laura Snell 4 pieces of cubed steak, browned 1 large onion, sliced 1 large can tomato sauce 1 large bell pepper, sliced 1 large can tomato Cook until done, Serve over rice. HEARTY STUFFED PEPPER Dot Ramer 4 large green peppers, cored and seeded 1 jar Ragu Rich and Meaty Sauce 4 oz. mozzarella cheese, shredded 1 cup water 1 cup uncooked instant rice Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In 9-inch baking dish ar- range peppers and set aside. In a large bowl combine meat sauce, ½ cup cheese, and uncooked rice. Divide mixture evenly among pep- pers. Pour water into baking dish. Cover with foil. Bake 50 minutes or until peppers are tender. Remove foil and top with remaining cheese. Bake 5 minutes or until cheese is melted. SUNDROP CAKE Tami Snyder 5 eggs 3 cups plain flour ½ cup Crisco 1 tsp. lemon flavoring 3 cups sugar 2 sticks margarine 1 tsp. vanilla 6 oz. Sundrop Cream sugar, butter, and Crisco. Add flour, eggs, and beat until blended. Add fla- vorings. Add Sundrop last. Bake in tube pan at 325 de- grees for 1 ¼ hours. GLAZE: 2 ups confection- ers' sugar 2 Tbsp. margarine 2 oz. Sundrop Mix well and pour over slightly warm (not hot) cake. Cleveland County Sheriff's Office released their September statistics. CCSO releases September stats ELIZABETH DELORES LEIGH DAVIS RIPPY Elizabeth Delores Leigh Davis Rippy, age 88, of Shelby NC, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023. Born March 22, 1935 in Gaston County, Delores was the daughter of the late Clarence Leigh and Effie Mae Froneberger Leigh Ramsey. Delores is survived by her children, Theresa Barber of Kings Mountain, NC, Debra Bobiak of Wilmington, NC, Susan Kiser of Kings Mountain, NC, Kelly Davis of Honolulu, HI, Tina Davis of Buffalo, NY, and Lisa Davis of Shelby, NC, Kimberley Earwood of Shelby, NC; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn Marr of Indian Trail, NC and Jean Peterson of Kings Mountain, NC; and brother, Kenneth Ward. In addition to her parents, Delores is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Rippy; son, Jeffery Davis; a grandson and a great- grandson; and sisters, Betty Houser and Anne Heavner. A Celebration of Life service was held October 11, 2023 in the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home, with Rev. Kimberley Earwood and Pastor Richard Shores officiating. Gloria was born in McDowell County, North Carolina and was preced- ed in death by her parents and her husband, Charles William Summers. In addition to her par- ents and her husband, she was preceded in death by eight brothers, LC Brintley, Ambrose Brintley, Dolphus Brintley, Marshall Brintley, OB Brintley, Eddie Parks, Cleve Brintley, and Sunny Boy Parks, nine sisters, Mayola Hopper, Marion Ramsuer, Ida Willis, Mary Jane Woods, Geneva Sanford, Betty Parks, Bernell Chambers, Brenda Feaster, and Madge Brintley. She is survived by her son, Floyd Brintley Jr. of Detrot Michigan; sisters, Elizabeth Millage of Inkster Michigan, Ruth Goodman, of Shelby, Sue Miller (Robert) of Spindale NC, Rose Corry of Shelby and Margaret Vinson (Glen) of Shelby, three grandchildren, five great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
