She was born in Cleveland County, NC, daughter of the late Willie Lee and Gertie Jones Erwood. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Olan Martin; a son, Jerry Douglas Martin; and her siblings, Clinton Creedmore, Jennie Lynn, and Juanita Erwood. Born in Cleveland County, NC on April 23, 1937, he was the son of the late Seth Putnam and Bessie Montgomery Putnam. Mr. Putnam served our country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie Thomas Putnam and Bob Putnam and two sisters, Martha Hamrick Brindle and Betty Ledbetter. Survivors include his wife, Fuchia Allen Putnam; a son, Tracy Putnam of Laurinburg; a granddaugh- ter; daughter-in-law, Brenda Hinson of Gastonia; two brothers, Dan Putnam of Shelby and Boyd Putnam and wife, Barbara of Boiling Springs; a sister, Mary Smith of Shelby; three step daugh- ters, Paula Tallent and hus- band, Jeff, Tammy Harmon and Rebecca Rhinehardt and husband, Shawn all of Shelby; and sixteen step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Matthew Jayden Woods, maternal grandparents, and paternal grandparents. She is survived by her par- ents; four brothers, Robert Woods, Jr. (Hanna), Andrew Declue, Timothy Woods, and Darius Woods; and two sisters, Monique Oats and Breanna Woods. Hudson Beam, Jr., age 81, of Shelby, formerly of Cherryville, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023. He was born September 3, 1942 in Gaston County to the late Hudson, Sr. and Bessie Mae Helton Beam. Mr. Beam served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Overseas Marksman. He was also awarded the Purple Heart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, James Beam (Maida), Derrill Beam, and Ruth Beam Bell (Joe); and his son-in-law Rick Mellon.
