A: The various experts who come in to Gold & Silver Pawn Shop to help with trickier items — rare books, collectibles and so on — don't get a cent for their appearances, and they're quite happy about it. "It's been a great experience and helped my business tremen- dously," said Steve Grad, lead autograph authenticator on "Pawn Stars," in an interview with Deadline.com. "I hope it lasts forever because I love it so much." What he's saying, essentially, is that he's paid in exposure. That's a familiar concept on reality TV — so many of the people who volunteer for public scrutiny on a reality show do so with dreams of bigger fame to come. But the ex- change is a little more direct on "Pawn Stars" — for these ex- perts, most of whom are business owners themselves, the exposure translates to higher sales. Q: What has Jeffrey Donovan been doing since "Burn No- tice"? A: He's been coming full circle, in a way. The popularity of USA Net- work's dramedy "Burn Notice," which ran from 2007 to 2013, caught many by surprise and turned star Jeffrey Donovan into a leading man. Rather than pursue hunky-hero stardom, though, he soon switched to supporting roles in weightier projects. That included playing morally complex characters who flirted with outright villainy in ma- jor films such as "Sicario" (2015) and "Wrath of Man" (2021). But he recently turned back to- ward straightforward heroism, and leading-man status, on "Law & Or- der." He joined the revival of NBC's flagship cop drama in 2021, play- ing Det. Frank Cosgrove, the latest in a long line of detectives who an- chor the "Order" aspect of the show. (For anyone who, somehow, has never seen an episode of "Law & Order," the episodes are general- ly divided into two halves, one fol- lowing cops and one following lawyers.) Donovan wrapped his second season in the role earlier this year, and we have every reason to be- lieve he'll be back next season — the show's 23rd. Have a question?
