As part of an orientation program for high school students, members of the Raptor Class of 2027 will participate in four different rowing sessions on Lake Lure. Michael Smith, assistant principal for the middle and high school, said "We are very excited for this program. We are always trying to fi nd ways to help students discover the importance of teamwork, and we believe that this program will do just that." "The program also dovetails splendidly with our commitment to move education outdoors, beyond the four doors of the classroom as often as possible," Smith said. Program Director Wade Oppliger of the Lake Lure Rowing Club said the fi rst day of rowing "was a great success. We're started on a unique and great path with Lake Lure Classical Academy, and we look forward to seeing the impact on the lives of these young people." The Raptors will be back on the water for their next session in late September.
