Sandy was born on July 19, 1947 in Lincoln County, NC a daughter of the late Oscar "Bud" Blanton and Margaret Poovey Blanton. Survivors include her husband, Joe Dismukes of the home; a son, Tim Dismukes and wife Noelle of Greenville, NC; a daughter, Pam Dismukes Nixon and husband Kent of Belmont; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Susan Oliver and husband Jim of Mooresville and Donna Lail and husband Steve of Lincolnton. A celebration of life service was held August 26, 2023 at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Zack Christy officiating. SHIRLEY TUCKER WYLIE HENSON Shirley Tucker Wylie Henson, 83, of Boiling Springs, SC, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023. Born in Blacksburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Wilson Preston Tucker and Clara Smith Tucker. Surviving Mrs. Henson are her daughter, Linda (David) Lavender; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Kay Parker (James) and Joann Sullivan. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Henson was preceded in death by her children, Calvin Wylie, Roger Wylie, Katherine Horn; a grandson; her first husband, Lester Wylie; her second husband, Thurmon Henson; and her siblings, Louise Deaton, Sybil Tucker, Edna Tucker, Lloyd Tucker and Floyd Tucker. FRED DAVID SELF, SR. Fred David Self, Sr., 81, of Grover, NC, passed away on August 16, 2023. Born in Rock Hill, SC, he was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby S. Wade, along with his siblings, Charles "Pete" Self and Anita Lyon. He is survived by his spouse, Dora Martin Self, of Charlotte/Shelby; chil- dren: U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sergeant Fred David Self, Jr. (Jennie) of Sumter, SC; U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Charles Ray Self (Merlinda) of Florida; U.S. Navy Petty Officer Second Class Robert Self (Karen) of Virginia; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Born in Cleveland County, on July 30, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Robert "Buck" Elbridge Bridges and Bessie Eugenia Wright Bridges. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Andrew "Andy" Bridges and Jack Blair Bridges. Survivors include her hus- band, Billy Elias Bingham; son, Gregory Bingham of Vicksburg, MS; daughter, Melissa Koch and husband, Grady of Yorktown, VA; sis- ter, Linda Walker and hus- band, Robert of Lawndale; sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Bridges and Panola Bridges; and two grandchildren. A Funeral Service was held August 26, 2023 at Friendship Methodist Church with the Rev. Karen Doucette officiating. The burial will follow the service in Rose Hill Memorial Park. William Jasper Newton, Jr., 95, of Casar, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023. Born in Cleveland County, on December 14th, 1927, he was the son of the late William Jasper Newton and Blanche Walker Newton. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Gueirl Mae Downs Newton; and a daughter, Gail Meade. He is survived by a son, David Newton of Casar; two daughters and spouses, Dana and Phil Dellinger of Lawndale, Sheila and Roger Gantt of Casar, son-in-law, Bill Meade of Casar; eight grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. Born in Cleveland County, on February 3, 1945, he was a son of the late Joe Hoyt Hayes and Mary Sue Ledford Hayes. Mr. Hayes served our country in the US Marines during the Vietnam Conflict. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Erika Q. Hayes; second wife Yvonne Ford Hayes; infant brother, Joe Landrum Hayes; and a sister, Wanda Haughton. He is survived by two sons, Bobby Hayes of Palm City, FL and Mark Hayes and wife Sarah of Canonsburg, PA; a daughter, Karen Martin of Mooresboro; a sister, Dianne Thackerson of Shelby; and three grand- children.
