Mrs. Hicks was born on October 1, 1935 in Cleveland County, a daughter of the late Jimmy Washburn and Gwendolyn Ann Dellinger Smith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hicks and her step-father Roy Smith. Survivors include her two daughters, Bobbie Waters and husband, Richard of Shelby; Susan Ramsaur and husband Rick of Fort Mill, SC; a son, Rick Hicks of Cherryville; five grandchil- dren; ten great grandchildren; and three great-great grand- children. JOHNNY FRANKLIN KEEVER Johnny Franklin Keever, 78, of Crouse, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023. Born in Lincoln County, on January 31, 1945, he was a son of the late Carl Houston Keever and Mary Abernathy Keever. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Sheila Farris Black Keever. He is survived by his daugh- ter, Tammy Randall and husband David of Crouse; three brothers, Billy Joe Keever, Darrell Keever, and Jerry Wayne Keever all of Lincolnton; three sisters, Linda Tidwell of Vale, Patricia Keever and Sherlie Hedgepath both of Lincolnton; two grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Jimmy Graham (LeeAnne), Russell Hoyle (Robin), Scott Hoyle, Candace Hoyle, and Eddie Hoyle (Gerri); eight grand- children; seven great-grand- children; and sister, Mary Christine Blanton. Peggy was born in Lincolnton, NC on January 1, 1931 and was the daughter of the late George Charles and Alma Reynolds Gates. She is survived by her chil- dren, Ed Webb and wife Jean, Jann Pittman and husband Don; two grandsons; a great granddaughter; and brothers Jerry Gates and wife, Ann and Terry Gates. In addition to her parents Kay was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Thomas Wallace. Born in Norfolk County, Virginia on January 8, 1959, she was the daughter of Doris Benfield Franklin and the late Alvin Curtis Franklin. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a son, Shannon Franklin and a sister, Janice Franklin. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her hus- band, Larry Hudson; two sons, Billy Franklin and wife, Leslie of Morganton and Tim Blankenship of Casar; two brothers, Wayne Franklin and Donald Franklin both of Connelly Springs; and three grandchildren. Richard was born Thursday, February 15, 1934 in Rutherford County to the late Emmett Tessnear and Laura Dobbins Tessnear. Mr. Tessnear served our country in the U.S. Army dur- ing the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was pre- ceded in death by brothers, Gary Tessnear and Baxter "Bud" Tessnear and sister, Doris Tessnear Miller. He is survived by his wife, Aileen C. Tessnear; son and caretaker, Jeff Tessnear of Forest City; sisters, Myrtle Robbins (Bill) of Six Points and Wanda Woodard (Dr. Jerry Woodard) of Wilson, NC; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter.
