He was born in Cleveland County, NC, son of the late Herman and Grace Page Ruff and was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Ruff and a sister, Nyoka Galloway. Mr. Ruff served our country in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Maxine Short Ruff, of the home; children: Jason Ruff (Sandy), Antioch, SC; Brian Ruff, Gastonia, NC; Amanda Willford (Brett), Boiling Springs, SC; Brian Foster (Beth), Kings Mountain, NC; and Eric Boyd (Laura), Kings Mountain; eleven grandchil- dren; five great-grandchil- dren; and siblings: Joe Ruff (Jessie), and Evelyn Neal. Funeral service was held Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Sunrise Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. Interment was at Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC. Hazel was born Saturday, September 1, 1934 in Cleveland County to the late Hoyt Mode and Grace Sailors Mode. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Doug Evans; two grandchildren; and three brothers, Boyce, Jack and Bobby Mode. She is survived by her hus- band, Bobby Ayers; sons, Dean Blanton (Sharon) of Forest City, Dennis Thurman Evans (Sharon Bright) of Bostic, Christopher Ayers (Christy) of Mooresboro; daughters, Cathy Bennett (Jack) of Bostic, Brenda Ramsey (Greg) of Ellenboro, Tammy Melton of Forest City; sister, Donnis White of Shelby; sixteen grandchil- dren and twenty-one great- grandchildren. A memorial service was held August 19th at Campfield Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Nick King officiating. She is preceded in death by her parents: Clayton and Hazel White; sisters, Pat and Mildred and brother Forrest. She is survived by her ex- husband: Larry Matthews; son and daughter-in-law: Keith and Karen Matthews; a grandson, and her siblings: Betty Jo Richard, Leonard White, Warren White, Larry White, Doug White, and Judy White. She was born in Mecklenburg County, NC, and was preceded in death by her father Gary Wray Wortman and her brother Travis Wortman. She is survived by her children: Sydnie Hay, Clara Shaver, and Brody Shaver, all of the home; mother, Linda Wortman, Kings Mountain, NC; sister, Shannon Childress, Greer, SC; and father-in-law, John Shaver, Gastonia, NC. Born in Cleveland County on September 14, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Eubert Bynum and Edith Beam Spangler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Reynolds Greene; father-in- law and mother-in-law, A.W. and Corene Grigg Greene, two sisters and brothers- in-law, Eloise and Hoyle Wright, Shirley and Phillip Greene; brother and sister- in-law, Gene and Helen Spangler; two brothers-in- law, Gilbert Greene and wife Nancy, and Paul Reichle, one sister-in-law, Shirley "B" Fitch Greene; and one beloved son-in-law, James Timothy "Tim" Cabaniss. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Eddie Bridges, and Susan and Todd Turner; two sons and daughters-in- law, Scott and Lynn Greene, and Steve and Lori Greene; twelve grandchildren; elev- en great grandchildren; three brothers-in-law, Bobby Greene, Randall Greene and wife, Glenda, Henry Greene and wife, Susan; and one sister-in-law, June Carol Reichle.
