He was a native of Halifax County, NC and a son of the late Stanley Abernathy, Sr. and Virginia Abernathy. Mr. Abernathy served our country in the US Army. Stanley is sur- vived by his wife, Virginia Abernathy; son, Ted Abernathy; daugh- ter, Angela Stamey; broth- er, James Abernathy; two grandchildren and a great granddaughter. Sherman was born April 5, 1938, in Roanoke Rapids, NC. He was the son of the late Frank Battle Parrish and Helen Harrison Hobbs. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Frederick Parrish and Joseph Lee Parrish. Sherman is survived by his wife, Joan Parrish, daugh- ter, Holley P. Pegram and husband, Tom; son, Tim S. Parrish and wife, Stephanie; three grandchildren; and three great granddaughters.
