"Dog volunteers at the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter are some of the most committed, reliable, and compassionate volun- teers I have had the plea- sure of working with over many years as a volunteer leader in multiple orga- nizations," said Megan Carroll, SCCAS Volunteer Coordinator. "An animal shelter can be a stressful environment, and our dog Make a dog's day volunteers help ease that stress and help dogs get adopted." One volunteer summed up the rewards of volun- teering this way: "When I leave the shelter at the end of my shift, I often think, Well … I really made a dog's day today, and that makes my day." To volunteer with us, visit https://www. scanimalshelter.org/be- coming-a-volunteer and sign up for an upcoming volunteer orientation. In addition to our dog volun- teer program, many other volunteer opportunities exist, including cat and rabbit care, barn work, and gardening with our green team.
