Color Page 12 • Terre Haute Tribune-Star • July 30 - August 5, 2023 "GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3" The popular Marvel Studios adven- ture-with-humor franchise about a group of intergalactic misfits reaches its conclusion with this chapter, as a wounded Rocket (voice of Bradley Cooper) struggles to recover from an attack while a personally troubled Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) leads the other Guardians in a mis- sion to do what's necessary to save their ally's life. That involves infiltrating the technologically complex lair of a mad scientist known as the High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji). Returning cast members also include Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Sean Gunn (brother of the film's writer-director, James Gunn), Michael Rooker, Elizabeth Debicki and Sylvester Stallone; also among additions are "The Rookie's" Nathan Fillion (though he did a voice cameo in the first picture) and Will Poulter. DVD extras: two "making-of" docu- mentaries; audio commentary by James Gunn; deleted scenes; outtakes. *** (PG: P, V) (Also on Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD, Digital and On Demand) "If we are going to be uplifting Indige- nous people with a show like this, let's actually uplift our youth in terms of the practical things." - "Reservation Dogs" actress Devery Jacobs, speaking to Vulture before the actors' strike "I really believe in things being finite and not staying past its welcome, whether that's a TV show or a band or anything. I think just quit while you're ahead and while you've got something to say." - "Breeders" star Martin Free- man, speaking to Newsweek ahead of the series' final season "I have to admit, it [the 'Chenbot' nick- name] stung when I first saw it. But then I was like, 'He has a point. And it's kind of funny.' And now I embrace it, and it makes me laugh. You have to have a sense of humor about yourself." - "Big Brother" host Julie Chen Moonves, in a past interview with Entertainment Tonight BY JAY BOBBIN Family Viewing Ratings AS Adult situations P Profanity V Violence N Nudity GV Graphic Violence "CINDERELLA" One of the ultimate gems in the animat- ed Disney canon gets a general home-vid- eo release in the 4K Ultra HD format, and in SteelBook packaging, as part of the studio's 100th-anniversary celebration after having been available only to Disney Mov- ie Club members earlier in the year. The 1950 classic hews closely to the storyline of the long-beloved fairy tale, with the title character (with the voice of Ilene Woods) – oppressed by a cruel stepmother and scheming step-sisters – getting her chance to shine as the literal belle of a ball, under the guidance of a benevolent Fairy God- mother (voice of Verna Felton, who also was heard as Wilma's mother on "The Flintstones"). As many fans know, that sets her up to be courted by a genuine Prince Charming (whose singing voice was fur- nished by Mike Douglas, later a successful syndicated-talk-show host). One of the most famous voices in animation history, June Foray, supplies the words of the character Lucifer. **** (G) (Also on Blu-ray and Digital) "ABOUT MY FATHER" During the later phase of his career, Robert De Niro has gotten some laughs from playing dads, and he's back in that mode in this comedy. He plays the parent of an engaged man (comic Sebastian Man- iscalco) whose fiance (Leslie Bibb) wants him to bring his father to a gathering of her wealthy and somewhat offbeat family … and to say that not all of the parties get along is a huge understatement. The situation leads to a new understanding between the groom-to-be and his dad, but the road to getting there is pretty bumpy. Kim Cattrall, Anders Holm, Brett Dier and David Rasche also appear. Siblings Paul and Chris Weitz, whose other credits in- clude the somewhat similarly titled "About a Boy," are among the picture's producers. *** (PG-13: AS, N, P) (Also on Blu-ray, Digital and On Demand) "THE BIG LEBOWSKI" "The Dude" still abides in the 4K Ultra HD debut of what might be considered a cult classic, but it's actually bigger than that, considering the wide popularity that this comedy has enjoyed for 25 years. Joel and Ethan Coen's saga revolves around a bowling-devoted slacker – Jeff Bridges, in a truly iconic performance – who's attacked instead of the intended target, a wealthy man (David Huddleston) who has the same name. Things get even more complicated when the millionaire's wife (Tara Reid) is kidnapped, and he enlists the "wrong" Lebowski to make the ransom drop … though the latter's pal (John Good- man) wants to keep the money. The fabu- lous cast also includes Sam Elliott, Julianne Moore, Steve Buscemi, John Turturro, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Peter Stormare and Ben Gazzara. The distinctive music score is by Coen-movie regular Carter Burwell. **** (R: AS, P, V) "1923: A YELLOWSTONE ORIGIN STORY – SEASON ONE" (AUG. 8) "ENTER THE DRAGON" (4K ULTRA HD) (AUG. 8) "BABYLON 5: THE ROAD HOME" (AUG. 15) "NEFARIOUS" (AUG. 15) "INFINITY POOL" (AUG. 29) Zoe Saldana and Chris Pratt in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" Bruce Lee in "Enter the Dragon"
