16 | Diversity Rules Magazine| July 2023 Acceptance - Con't from page 13 7. Acceptance can only come with forgiveness - for- giveness of others and ourselves. We can't be angry and in true acceptance at the same me. Acceptance means taking responsibility for everything in our lives, including arguments, disagreements, and hurt. Forgiveness allows us to see the big picture. With all pain comes growth. With forgiveness comes the les- son and clarity. Forgiveness brings us peace of mind; it allows us to move forward and grow. Hold onto pain, and you will remain stuck in nega vity. 8. Acceptance of your life in the present moment means change is coming. We can accept our situ- a ons and where we are, but with each new day comes new changes. No ma er how much you try to avoid change, it's unavoidable. So accept where you are and your situa on, and know that acceptance is the beginning of your next chapter. 9. When you feel stuck and stagnate- accept. Don't keep trying to problem solve and find an answer when your thought process is the same. We don't problem-solve in a healthy manner when we are in the midst of a struggle and filled with anger and fear. Instead, try the acceptance route. Stop the struggle, let go of the fight and just accept. This means do nothing, don't take any ac on, just accept. Be s ll and at peace with where you are at this very mo- ment. Don't try to change it, fight it, ignore it, avoid it, etc. just truly accept it. When we accept and let go and see things with a clear vision, new answers, and solu ons come up. Accept and wait for it, and it will come. Workplace - Con't from page 11 Crea ng Safe Spaces and Support Networks To enable LGBTQ employees to feel safe and support- ed at work, bring their real selves to work, and fully contribute to the success of the firm, it is crucial to create safe places and support networks inside the workplace. Employee resource groups (ERGs) or af- finity organiza ons that cater specifically to LGBTQ people can provide a venue for networking, mentor- ing, and advocacy. These organiza ons give workers the chance to interact with other like-minded pro- fessionals, exchange stories, and collaborate to pro- mote inclusivity. Addi onally, designated safe areas like quiet rooms and restrooms that are gender-neu- tral can give LGBTQ workers a feeling of security and comfort. Promo ng LGBTQ Visibility/Representa on As they encourage others, dispel prejudices, and build an atmosphere of acceptance and celebra on, visibility and representa on play a cri cal role in ad- vancing workplace inclusivity for LGBTQ people. Em- ployers should ac vely look for occasions to recog- nize and celebrate the successes, contribu ons, and LGBTQ employees' experiences. Internal communi- ca ons, staff spotlights, and involvement at queer community events can all help with this. Companies express their dedica on to inclusivity by boos ng LGBTQ voices and showing varied role models, which encourages people to be their true selves. In conclusion, embracing LGBTQ employees in the workplace is both a moral requirement and a com- pe ve advantage for businesses. Companies can promote an inclusive culture that helps both work- ers and the organiza on as a whole by embracing di- versity, pu ng inclusive policies in place, establish- ing safe places, increasing visibility, and accessing a broad talent pool. Happy Independence Day!
