10 ENTERTAINMENT EXTRA By Raye Smith TV Media WHAT'S NEW ON NETFLIX "The Out-Laws" (2023) Saddle up for a gunslinging urban adventure with the new Netflix action comedy "The Out-Laws," premiering Friday, July 7. The film stars Adam Devine ("Workaholics") as Owen Browning, a straight-laced bank manager about to marry the love of his life, Parker (Nina Dobrev, "The Vampire Diaries"). But when his bank is held up by the infamous Ghost Bandits during his wedding week, he suspects that his future in- laws, Billy (Pierce Brosnan, "Tomor- row Never Dies," 1997) and Lilly (El- len Barkin, "Animal Kingdom"), who just arrived in town, are the outlaws in question. From director Tyler Spindel ("The Wrong Missy," 2020) and writers Evan Turner ("Journey to the Center of the Earth," 2008) and Ben Zazove ("Sherlock Gnomes," 2018), "The Out-Laws" is produced by Devine, Allen Covert ("Hustle," 2022) and Adam Sandler ("Murder Mystery 2," 2023). WHAT'S NEW ON HULU "CMA Fest: 50 Years of Fan Fair" The new documentary special "CMA Fest: 50 Years of Fan Fair," premiering on Hulu Wednesday, July 5, celebrates CMA Fest's humble beginnings, as told through exclusive one-on-one interviews, never-before-seen archival footage and CMA Fest performances. The film follows the festival from its humble beginnings as a Fan Fair in 1972, when it drew 5,000 fans to the Nashville Municipal Auditorium, through its move to the Tennessee State Fairgrounds in 1982 and its final big move to downtown Nash- ville in 2001, as an event that now draws 80,000 fans a day for four music and fun-filled days. WHAT'S NEW ON PRIME VIDEO "The Horror of Dolores Roach" - Season 1 Prime Video's newest horror-com- edy series, "The Horror of Dolores Roach," premieres on the streaming platform Friday, July 7. Based on the hit Spotify podcast series of the same name, this series is "a contem- porary, Sweeney Todd-inspired ur- ban legend of love, betrayal, weed, cannibalism and survival of the fittest in New York City" (per Prime Video). It follows Dolores Roach (Justina Machado, "Six Feet Under") as she is released from an unjust prison sentence after 16 years and returns to a gentrified Washington Heights, where she reunites with her old friend Luis (Alejandro Hernan- dez, "New Amsterdam"), who lets her live and work as a masseuse in the basement under his empanada shop. But, when the promise of her newfound stability is quickly threat- ened, Dolores finds herself going to shocking extremes to survive. From creator, writer and executive pro- ducer Aaron Mark ("Commentary," 2012), who originally developed the story as a one-woman play called "Empanada Loca" and who directed the original podcast, "The Horror of Dolores Roach also stars Kita Updike ("The Misandrists," 2017), K. WHAT'S NEW ON DISNEY+ "Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire" Experience the creativity and pow- erful storytelling of a new wave of animation stars in the action-packed new Disney+ animated sci-fi anthol- ogy "Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire," when it premieres Wednesday, July 5. The series brings together the vi- sions of different animators to pres- ent distinct, futuristic visions from Africa across 10 short films. Inspired by the continent's diverse histories and cultures, "these action-packed sci-fi and fantasy stories present bold visions of advanced technol- ogy, aliens, spirits and monsters imagined from uniquely African per- spectives" (per Disney+). WHAT'S NEW ON MAX "My Adventures With Super- man" - Season 1 The Man of Steel is soaring onto Max Friday, July 7, in the first two episodes of the newest animated series from Warner Bros. Anima- tion and DC, "My Adventures with Superman." Episodes air weekly on Thursdays on Adult Swim, be- fore joining the Max streamer on Fridays. A serialized coming-of-age- story, the show catches up with Clark Kent (voiced by Jack Quaid, "The Boys") in his twenties, as he, Lois Lane (Alice Lee, "Zoey's Ex- traordinary Playlist") and their best friend, Jimmy Olsen (Ishmel Sahid, "Jury Duty"), discover who they are and everything they can accom- plish together as an investigative reporting team at the Daily Planet. As Clark builds his secret identity as Superman, Lois is on her way to becoming an all-star reporter with Jimmy by her side, photographing breaking stories. As they come into their own, the "trio share adven- tures, take down bad guys, stumble over secrets and discover what it means to be heroes in their own right" (per Warner Bros. Discovery).
