SWEET POTATO CASSEROLE Hazel Crouch 4 cups cooked sweet potatoes 1 cup sugar s4 eggs ¾ cup milk 1 T. vanilla ¾ melted butter Mash the potatoes until creamy. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix. Sprinkle topping over potatoes. Bake uncovered at 350 for 30 min- utes. Will serve 10 to 12 peo- ple generously. TOPPING 1 ½ cups brown sugar ½ cup flour ¾ stick margarine 1 cup chopped pecans Combine all ingredients for topping and place on top of sweet potato casserole. PEGGY'S FORGOTTEN CHICKEN Peggy Miller 1 cup uncooked rice 1 can cream of celery soup 1 can cream of chicken soup 1 ½ cups water Chicken pieces to serve 6 people Salt and pepper to taste ½ pkg. dry onion soup mix Grease 9x13 baking dish and place rice in the bottom. Combine cream soups and water. Pour half of the soup mixture over rice and let stand a few minutes. Place chicken over rice. Add salt and pepper and remaining sop mixture. Top with dry onion soup. Cover with foil and bake at 350 for 1 ½ - two hours. Serves 6. CHOCOLATE POUND CAKE Marsha Brown 2 sticks butter ½ tsp. baking powder ½ cup shortening ¼ tsp. salt 3 cups sugar ½ cup cocoa 5 eggs 1 ½ cups milk 3 cups flour 1 tsp. vanilla Cream butter, shortening and sugar until light. Add eggs one at a time. Blend dry ingredi- ents and add alternately. Blend dry ingredients and add alter- nately with milk and vanilla. Pour batter into greased and floured tube pan.
