Your Grassroots Radio Station ListentoLife.org LISTEN TO LIFE by Dr. Joey Faucette A friend of mine started a business that recycled wood. That is, he would buy old barns, beams and rafters out of old textile mills, and old wood out of other buildings, and craft it into lots of wonderful, one- of-a-kind products. For instance, wood fl ooring and paneling, and he even made furniture out of this old wood. Now you and I drive right by some of these places where he got his wood. Old barns out in the country, barns that are falling down. Dilapidated factories that companies abandoned long ago. Sure, they were hand- some in their day, but now they're just old. But my friend sees beauty in these old buildings. He sees woods that aren't grown anymore that have distinc- tive characteristics; wood that's turned silver-gray as it aged. We're a lot like that, you and me. Only it's on the inside that the beauty grows with you. Sure you turn silver gray and lean a little, but it's inside where your true beauty re- cycles. As you make a life worth living today, look inside and recycle the positive within you. Are you being recycled? 704-484-1047 carolinaclassifieds.com The employment sec- tion of the Classifieds can help you reach new heights. BASS From Page 1 (2021) was for the Junior Charity League of Shelby, followed by last year's charity tournament (2022) for Hospice of Cleveland County, then this year's fishing tournament (2023) for the Life Enrichment Center of Shelby. The two noted that over the past three years, they have collected over $40,000, utilizing the tour- nament as a vehicle for donations and collect- ing funds for their cause. Gordon also noted they gave out $6,500 in cash and prizes to the contes- tants. Here is a partial list of just some of the many sponsors of the event: McKinney Insurance, LLC; Whitetail Properties; Two Kings Casino; SafetyTest; the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office; Berry Business Systems; CRM Insurance; HSi Hord Service; Leonard Buildings & Truck Accessories; Lucky Lady Trucking; Palmetto Roofing Specialties; the Great Outdoors (in Cherryville, NC); and the Bass Shack (Shelby). The men also noted there were numerous sponsors who wished to remain anony- mous. Canipe and Gordon wanted to say a big "Thank You" to all who participated in the fishing event, adding they hope to be able to do this again next year. Chris Canipe and Bryan Gordon speak to the LEC's ladies moments before the check was presented. Canipe (in the black shirt) has the actual check in his hand.
