She was born April 24, 1928, in Gaston County to the late Robert Lee and Leona Kiser Eaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Wade" Hovis; brother, Bobbie Lewis Eaker; and sister, Lucille Eaker Hovis. Survivors include her sons, Jim Hovis and wife, Becky of Charlotte, and Frank Hovis and wife, Leigh Anne of Gastonia; daughter, Marie Hovis Swift and husband, Steve of Bessemer City; sis- ter, Rebekah Lynch; eight grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren. Snellings, 81, of Shelby, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Sampson and Alma Rippy Snellings. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Willene Snellings. He is survived by his son, Scott Snellings and wife Kelly of Lawndale; daughter, Joy Lail and husband Jeff of Cherryville; four grandchil- dren, and five great grand- children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Georlene Holland, a son, Randy Holland, a broth- er, Gordon Holland, and two sisters, Louise Ayers and Patricia Ann Crawford.
