She was born April 24, 1928, in Gaston County to the late Robert Lee and Leona Kiser Eaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Wade" Hovis; brother, Bobbie Lewis Eaker; and sister, Lucille Eaker Hovis.
