The fi nal week of camp is July 23-28. South Mountain Christian Camp operates under the principle that no child should be turned away from summer camp for fi nancial reasons. Most of the children attending summer camp at South Mountain this summer will require fi nancial assistance from sponsors. The camp's founders O.A. and Charlotte Fish quoted Luke 18:16, "Let the little children come to me…" as the inspiration for the camp's design. "O.A. set an example that if you trust in what God says, you will see miracles." Every year South Mountain Christian Camp accepts every child, they have room for, and believes by faith that God will provide everything that is needed. Michelle Kramer, a granddaughter of O.A. and Charlotte Fish, is the camp's Executive Director. Michelle and her husband Major Matthew Kramer, D.O. met at South Mountain Christian Camp where they both worked during the summer of 2000. Major Kramer went on to serve in the USAF and in the summer 2017 the Kramers moved back to Rutherford County with their three daughters because they both wanted to help with the camp's ministry. In 2022 O.A. Fish passed, but Charlotte Fish continues to serve on the camp's Board of Directors and Major Kramer serves as the President of the Board. "We miss O.A. deeply but it's wonderful to see his faith live on in this ministry. It just proves that what he believed in truly matters. We will keep the faith and continue to let them come," said Michelle. Justin Baldwin has also joined the team at SMCC as the new Program Director. Justin has work experience as both a program director and a youth pastor. Justin and the Fish family wanted to honor O.A. Fish's legacy this summer, by basing this year's summer camp theme on O.A.'s book "The Fingerprints of God." Campers are going to be junior detectives as they work with their cabin directors to look everywhere for God's fi ngerprints. If interested in helping support the scholarship fund or for a a copy of O.A.'s book you can contact South Mountain Christian Camp at www.south mountain christian camp.org, mailing address PO Box 9, Bostic NC 28018; or call 828-245- 3322.
