In bowl of stand mixer, beat whipping cream and sweet- ened condensed milk until stiff peaks form. Fold in straw- berry puree. Pour into loaf pan. Freeze 5 hours. Before serving, let ice cream soften 5-10 minutes. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kelly and Ethel McDowell; brothers, Charlie, Eugene and Junior McDowell all of Conway, SC; sister, Irene Rackly of Myrtle Beach, SC. He is survived by his wife, Sherry McDowell, one brother, Tommy McDowell (Kay) of Shelby; sisters, Doris Smith and Linda Gardner of Conway, SC and Paula Benton of Florence, SC; several nieces and nephews. Louise was born April 6, 1940 in Rutherford County to the late Gillie Washington Spicer and Hattie Lou Buff. She worked as a seam- stress for several local com- panies for many years and was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Verge Dedmon; sisters, Irene Hall and Judy Tessnear; brothers, George, John, Abraham and Bobby Spicer. Those left to cher- ish her memory include her daughter, Mary Elliott (Edward) of Bostic; son, Ray Dedmon (Cookie) of Rutherfordton; brother, Ronnie Spicer of Harris; sis- ters, Julie Lewis of Forest City and Janie Fleischer (Dale) of Youngstown, OH, five grandchildren, and fif- teen great-grandchildren. Josh worked in various local sawmills as a forklift driver most of his adult life and was of the Missionary Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lloyd and Mary Morrow and Charles and Dorothy Evans and aunt, Gloria Jean Morrow. In addition to his par- ents, those left to cherish his memory are his broth- er, Alan Morrow (Lori) of Forest City; sisters, Heather Wishon (Caleb) and Brittney Cook (Joseph) of Ellenboro; four nieces, two nephews, several aunts and uncles. Max Eugene Holland Max Holland, age 84, of Ellenboro, passed away Friday, June 9, 2023. Max was born November 5, 1938 in Rutherford County to the late Joseph Holland and Edna Ruth Biggerstaff Holland. He worked for Burlington Industries for many years and was a mem- ber of Goodes Creek Baptist Church. In addition to his par- ents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Georlene Holland, a son, Randy Holland, a brother, Gordon Holland, two sisters, Louise Ayers and Patricia Ann Crawford. Those left to cherish fond memories are daugh- ters, Lisa Blanton (Dwayne), Mary Jo Teseniar (Don); son Alan Holland (Sharon), brother, Ron Mauney; 10 grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchil- dren. Hoyt Hodge, Sr. Hoyt Hodge, Sr., age 79, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 10, 2023. Hoyt was born February 25, 1944 in Rutherford County to the late Ed Hodge, Sr. and Ruth Brooks Hodge. He worked for PPG Industries for 40 years. Hoyt was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. In addition to his par- ents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ed Hodge, Jr. and sister-in-law, Joann Hodge. Those left to cherish fond memories include his wife of 54 years, Geraldine Huber Hodge; daugh- ter, Renee Hodge Conner (Dwayne) of Ellenboro; son, Hoyt Hodge, Jr. of Ellenboro; brother, Billy Dean Hodge (Yoshiko) of Newport News, Virginia and sister, Patsy McCraw of Henrietta; four grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 6pm Thursday, June 15 at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Mack Tester officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. He worked as a ceiling install- er at Bradshaw-Hayes Construction Co. in Charlotte for many years. In addition to his par- ents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlotte Philbeck Johns; granddaughter, Bethany Conrad; brothers, John Wayne, Billy, J.B. and John Philbeck; sisters, Kay Jones, Joyce Dover, Geraldine Terry and Patsy Moore. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 40 years, Shirley Philbeck; son, Benson Freeman (Amanda) of Bostic; two grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
