Fall Color Tours!
Pack your bags & hit the road for Washington County, Wisconsin as colors trickle
down through the tops & middles of the trees. The weather remains beautiful in
October for taking in the sights of color on winding roads. Reds, yellows, & deep
gold will pop throughout the county. Take a drive on Holy Hill Road in Richfield
for tree lined curves and breathtaking sites or cruise around Big Cedar Lake in
West Bend for numerous "ooh and ahh" moments.
Yellowstone Trail in Washington County
Long-distance auto routes were called "trails" in 1915 when Washington County
first saw the transcontinental Yellowstone Trail which ran 3600 miles from
Plymouth Rock to Puget Sound. The historic route created by the Yellowstone
Trail Association ran through 13 states, 27 miles through Washington County on
present WI 175. Counties built the roads, mostly dirt and gravel, with no state
or federal aid, but often with local volunteers like C. Fraser, A Maurer, and
A. Stark of Washington County. In 1929 the Yellowstone Trail became the first
all-concreted route across the state. www.yellowstonetrail.org.
Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial and Education Center.
The Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial and Education Center serves to remember the
victims, honor those who responded, celebrate the resilience of our communities
and country, and educate future generations about the attacks on the United
States on September 11th, 2001. At the center of the Memorial is a steel
beam from the North Tower of the Word Trade Center. Learn more at www.
