She is survived by her son, Nicky Hamrick (Mickie) of Shelby, NC, four grand- children, and four great grandchildren. Born December 13, 1926 in Cleveland County, NC, Daphine was the daughter of the late Wesley and Ida Callahan and was preceded in death by her husband, JM Hamrick, a daughter, Debra McMurry, a brother, Loarn Callahan, and five sisters, Irene Green, Minnie Winn, Beatrice Wheellus, Betty Mauney Gantt, and Barbara Thornburg. Born in Cleveland County, NC, on January 25, 1996, he was the son of William James "Jamie" Mascoe and Janae Starnes Mascoe. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, WILBURN AYERS Wilburn Ayers, age 78, of Caroleen, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. Wilburn was born Wednesday, August 16, 1944 in Johnson City, TN, to the late Oscar Vernal Ayers, Sr. and Rosie Marie Rice Ayers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte Ayers Cannon; A granddaughter, and three brothers, Harold Gene Ayers, Oscar Vernal Ayers, Jr. and Gary Ayers. Those left to cherish fond memories include his wife, Janice Martin Ayers; children, Jackie Ayers Kelly (Michael) of Largo, FL, Bobby Eugene Ayers (Christi) of Henrietta, Penny Ayers Webb (Jerry) of Sandy Mush, Barbara Ayers Shytle (Craig) of Henrietta, Sandy Bailey (John Trotter) of Mooresboro, Gloria Morris (Claude) of Eatonton, GA and Tommy Bailey (Evie) of Mooresboro; ten grandchil- dren and seven great-grand- children; three sisters, Karen Walker of Johnson City, TN, Linda Whitson of Jonesboro, TN, Renea Whitson of Jonesboro, TN and brothers, Lloyd Ayers (Shirley) of Star, SC and Johnny Ayers (Jean) of Johnson City, TN. The funeral service was held May 30th at Race Path Baptist Church with Reverend Roger Laws, Bro. Craig Ledford and Reverend Randall Cooper officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Carla Cobb, Clyde and Shirley Putnam and Warren Terry; and grandfather-in-law.
