Born in Cleveland County, on July 15, 1927, he was a son of the late Clifford Samuel Botts and Florence Ethel Newton Botts. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son; Wesley Botts; two brothers, Buford Botts and Howard Botts; and seven sisters, Johnnie Norman, Mildred Warlick, Betty Jean Botts, Elizabeth Johnson, Mary Lou Ennis, Dorothy Dean Norman, and Willard Bridges. KATHLEEN MARY SHIPLEY Kathleen Mary Shipley, age 74, of Kings Mountain, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023. She was born September 23, 1948 in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Franklin S. and Mary Lavardera Lusby. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul F. Lusby and Rick Lusby; and sister, Jane Lusby Ruish. Survivors include her hus- band, Edward "Bob" Shipley; son, Michael Shipley (Star); daughters, Michelle Shipley Stinnette (Ken) and Kimberly Shipley Mull (Rodney); five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. MARY ELIZABETH WHEELER Mary Elizabeth Wheeler, 64, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on May 22, 2023. She was born in Cleveland County, daughter of the late Tommy and Julia Forbis Yarbrough and was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Butch Yarbrough and her sister, Jane Morehead. She is survived by her husband, William Ray "Buck" Wheeler, of the home; chil- dren: Amanda Wheeler Cannon (Brian), Shelby, NC, Kristina Wheeler Ledbetter, Kings Mountain, NC, and Jonathan Ray Wheeler, He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Lib" Weaver Botts; two sons, Michael Botts and wife Penny of Granite Falls and Timothy Botts of Casar; daughter- in-law, Betty Botts of Casar; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. The funeral service was held May 21, 2023 at Corinth Baptist Church with the Rev. Dustin Hamrick officiating. The burial followed in the church cemetery. Born in Cleveland County, on February 23, 1965, he was the son of Mary Elizabeth Stringfellow Prater of Shelby and her husband, the late Clayton Praytor and the late Donald Lee Ross and his wife and other mother, Sue Ross of Shelby.
