Born in Cleveland County, NC on March 27, 1952, he was the son of the late Eure "Lee" Gantt and his mother, Virginia Daves Gantt. He was also preceded in death by his girlfriend Ms. Connie Moore. He is survived by his three children, Kristie Scroggs (Erick), Bobby Gantt (Tammy), Tanya Paga'n (Wil); eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; his sis- ter, Mary Shytle (Jack); and brother, Billy Gantt (Marites). Mr. Whitworth served our country in the U.S. Army. No services are planned at this time. His children plan to have a private memorial service at a later date. Robert requested you all to hold your loved one tight and tell them you love them. ALEXANDER BOYD SMITH Alexander "Alex" Boyd Smith, 56, of Gaffney, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023. Born in Cherokee County, SC on June 6, 1966, he was the son of the late William Boyd Smith and Brenda Ann Richard Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Boyd Smith. Survivors include a broth- er, William Lee Smith and wife, Debbie of Gaffney; two sisters, Reba Ann Henderson and husband, Robert of Gaffney and Karen Lynn Smith of Mississippi. He was a native of Cleveland County, NC. Mr. Ramsey served our country in the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War where he received The Purple Heart with three Oak Leaf Clusters for wounds received in battle. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Childers Ramsey; one son, Douglas Kyle Ramsey (Judith); two daugh- ters, Rita Ray Gary (Bill) and Lori Lynn Norville (Chuck); two sisters, Nell Brooks and Dorothy Davis; eight grand- children and six great grand- children. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Thomas Ramsey and Beulah Robbins Ramsey and one grandson. Funeral services were held May 21, 2023 at Crowe's Funeral Chapel, Rutherfordton, NC, with Rev. Raymond Byrd officiating. Concluding services were held May 23, 2023 at The Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain, NC, with Military Honors. She is survived by her children: Ed Burns and wife Cari, Conover, NC, Shelby, Splinter and husband Gene, Apple Valley, MN, and Elizabeth Burns Mayes, Charlotte, NC; two grand- children; three great grand- children; and siblings: Harold Peterson and Lucille Kiser. Glenda was born Sunday, August 1, 1954 in Rutherford County to Susan Dobbins Cooper who resides in Forest City, and the late Charlie Cooper. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Cooper. She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Edney; son, Robby Edney; and sister, Darlene Hooper (Stanley). A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Gene and Geraldine Blanton Wease. He is survived by his sis- ter, Debby Wease of Boiling Springs; and brothers, Kim Michael Wease of Shelby and Roger Dale Wease of Boiling Springs. A graveside service was held May 17, 2023 in Sharon United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Keith Dixon officiating. Funeral services are entrusted to Clay-Barnette Funeral Home & Aquamation Center. ROBERTA BECK BRIDGES Roberta Beck Bridges, age 72, of Mooresboro, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023. Roberta was born Sunday, February 25, 1951 in Rutherford County to the late Roby Roberson and Beatrice Beck. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Ferguson and her brother H.P. Brackett. Those left to cherish her memory include her hus- band, Ronnie Bridges, two daughters, Sandy Cline, Tracy Oliver (Brad); brother, Johnny Brackett (Jill); four grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by two daughters, Brianna Clark of Shelby, NC, and Mychal Ferguson of Shelby, NC. Pam was preceded in death by a sister, Amy Smith.
