Tommie was born on June 27, 1935 in Gaston County, NC, a daughter of the late Hunter Ervin Mauney, Sr. and Lois Moody Mauney. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Alice Morris and Eleanor "Anne" Putnam. Survivors include two daughters, Bobbi Conner and husband George of Lincolnton; Donna Suttles Broome of Pumpkin Center; a sister Shirlee Carrodus of Bessemer City; a brother, Hunter Mauney, Jr.; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and ten great- great grandchildren.
