Mr. Charlie Artemus Harward Jr., 66, of Smyrna, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023. Born in Durham, NC, he was the husband of Mary Sprankle Harward and the son of the late Charlie A Harward Sr. and Sarah Davis Harward. Surviving Mr. Harward are his wife, Mary Harward, his mother, Sarah Harward of Smyrna, daughters; Tina Burgess (James) of Blacksburg, Crystal Hall (Chad) of Clover, Anna Wilder (Paul) of York, Michelle Roberts of York, Jennifer Roberts of York and Lela Heatherly (Roger) of Lake Lure, a broth- er, Timothy Harward Sr. (Yolena) of Wake Forest, NC, sisters; Marie Shumate of Greenville, SC and Denise Morris (Mitch) of Rock Hill; sixteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. In addition to his father, Mr. Harward was preceded in death by his brothers, Obie and Lamar Harward and a daughter, Wendy Leagon "Martin". LYNN GOFORTH WOOTEN Lynn Goforth Wooten, 76, of Forest City, NC, passed away on May 6, 2023. She was born in Cleveland County, NC, daughter of the late Robert Lee and Dorothy Mae Cloninger Goforth and was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Gray Wooten and her brothers, Larry and Robbie Goforth. ROBERT CHARLES CARPENTER Robert "Bobby" Charles Carpenter, 73 of Dogwood Trail, Shelby, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Atrium Health - Cleveland. Born in Cleveland County, on June 19, 1949, he was the son of the late Charles Clifton Carpenter and Jetty Leah Ledford Carpenter. Survivors include his wife, Patricia "Patti" Maida Carpenter; two sons, David Carpenter and wife, Jessica and Mike Carpenter all of Shelby; two daughters, Ashley Almanza and hus- band, Ray of Panama and Rachel Carpenter of Shelby; three grandchildren; and a brother, Don Carpenter and wife, Julie of Tennessee. SHUFORD KIRK PEELER, JR. Shuford Kirk Peeler Jr., 89, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on May 7, 2023. He was born in Stanly County, NC, son of the late Shuford Kirk Peeler Sr. and Katherine Mummert Peeler. Mr. Peeler served our country in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and was a member of the National Guard in West Chester, PA. He is survived by his wife, Linda White Peeler, Kings Mountain, NC; daughter, Lynn P. Mosier, Fort Mill, SC; son: David K. Peeler, Evans, GA; and five grandchildren. Graveside service was held May 13, 2023 at Mountain Rest Cemetery with Reverend Dr. John Sloan officiating. Interment was at Mountain Rest Cemetery. MARGARET JEAN ROLLINS VAN DYKE Mrs. Margaret Jean Rollins Van Dyke, 76, of Lenoir, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. Margaret was born on July 25, 1946 in Cleveland County to the late Albert Rollins and Mary Hellen Stover Rollins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Van Dyke, and two brothers, Carl, and David Rollins. Survivors include four chil- dren: Tina Grubb and hus- band Robert of Salisbury, Patricia Lowman of Valdese, Joey Lutz and wife Sherri of Granite Falls, and Jennifer Lutz of Valdese; nine grand- children; nineteen great- grandchildren, with one on the way; three sisters, Phyllis Bivens, Mary Sue Cline and husband Fred, and Cherry Rollins; and one brother, Thom Rollins. HARVEY BOWEN DAVIS Mr. Harvey Bowen Davis, age 79, of Shelby, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Sue Davis of the home; a son, Sam Davis (Carol) of Boiling Springs, NC; two grandchildren; and a great granddaughter. Born October 21, 1943, in Cleveland County, NC, Harvey was the son of the late Max Davis and OZ Greene Davis. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Allen of Shelby; his sisters and brothers: Linda Elrod of Rock Hill, SC, Helen Greer of Greenville, SC, Jerry Allen and wife Kathy, and Randy Allen of Shelby; his son, Ray Allen of Burbank, CA, two stepsons: Terrance Smith and wife Juanita, and Darren Smith and wife Angie; one step-grandson; and two step-great-grandchildren.
