Helen was born on May 19, 1931 in Moore County, NC to the late Earl and Eva Carter Morris. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bill McDaniel and by her brother, Jerry Morris. Helen is survived by her daughter, Suzie Terres (Mike); son, David McDaniel (Dorothy); two grandchil- dren; three great grandchil- dren; her sister, Laura Laine Huskey (Bob); sisters-in-law: April Morris, Libby McDaniel and Becky McDaniel; and brother-in-law, Durwood McDaniel. Funeral service was held May 10, 2023 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Steve Taylor officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Darrell Bivins. She is survived by her husband, Fred Parker Smith; son, Richard Smith and wife, Lisa of Casar; two daughters, Karen Gold and husband, Clyde of Shelby and Lisa Bridges of Marion; four brothers, Dale Bivins of Gastonia, Glenn Bivins, Tommy Bivins, and Randy Bivins all of Lawndale; a sister, Pat Sanford of Lawndale; six grandchil- dren; and a great grandson. A graveside service was held May 9, 2023 at Rose Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Terry Floyd officiating. Philip was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Lattimore. Mr. Whitaker served our country in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Jean Smith Beason; son, Bobby Beason and wife, Ellie of Shelby; daughter, Annette Smith and husband Steve of Shelby; stepson, Allen Smith and wife Sherry of Shelby; seventeen grand- children; and numerous great and great-great grandchil- dren.
