Leadership Rutherford recently raised $5,000 through a class project and voted to give it to Blue Ridge Hope, the local nonproÐit mental agency that serves all Rutherford County residents, including those with no ability to pay. David Silva, John David Crotts, and Scarlett Cochran, students of Sharon Lawrence of Forest City, performed in the National Piano Guild Auditions, held in Charlotte on Thursday, May 4. They are now members for one year in the National Fraternity of Student Musicians, sponsored by the National Guild of Piano Teachers, the teacher Division of the American College of Musicians, of which Lawrence is a member. David is in seventh grade at Chase Middle School, John David is a fi fth grader at Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy and Scarlett is in second grade at Forrest Hunt Elementary. They performed in the presence of a professional adjudicator chosen by the National organization. Throughout the U.S. and abroad, more than 100,000 enthusiastic piano pupils participate in the annual national Piano Guild Auditions in over 880 music centers. Each entrant will be given a certifi cate, a gold, silver, or bronze embossed pin, a report card, and a year's membership in the National Fraternity of Student Musicians.
