Radio direction w nder ©Community First Media Community First Media You may remember the old E. F. Hutton c o m m e r c i a l s . Usually, they started with two people in a loud and crowded location. As they were talking about their investment strategies one of them would say, "My broker is E. F. Hutton, and E. F. Hutton says." At that point all would stop and get quiet, with everyone leaning in, an announcer would say, "When E. F. Hutton talks, people listen." Someone much greater than E. F. Hutton also spoke about investments, this was Jesus Christ. He taught about investments that don't just offer temporary gains but those which will last forever. The type of ventures that Jesus referred to deal with the total sum of life. It includes the assets of our time, our talent and our treasure. He made a point to say that you don't have to be wealthy to invest in God's kingdom. Even a poor widow was honored by Jesus when she placed two small coins in the temple offering. She made an eternal investment. Each new day presents opportunities to make everlasting investments. God desires to use us to meet the needs of people around us. Jesus said that even a cold cup of water given in his name would not be forgotten. Throughout our day, we should be praying that God would help us to see those around us through his eyes. My dear Granny had a poem posted above her kitchen door which read, "Only one life, twill soon be past. Only what's done for Christ will last." Are you making wise investments?
