April 30 - May 6, 2023 • Terre Haute Tribune-Star • 9 If you find yourself with a craving for Peanuts this month, Apple TV+ may have something tasty to sate your appetite. Beginning Friday, May 5, the streaming service comes forth with "Peanuts Anthol- ogy III," a bevy of specials and shorts fea- turing the characters created by cartoonist Charles M. Schulz in the mid-20th century that have become favorites on television and in newspaper comic strips. Among the offerings to be found are: "You're a Good Sport, Charlie Brown" (1975): An Emmy winner for Outstand- ing Children's Special, this offering finds Charlie, Snoopy and Peppermint Patty competing in a motocross race. A crash results in Charlie and Snoopy being taken for medical care, the latter to the hospital and the former to the vet. Escapes en- sue, the race continues and one takes the checkered flag. "It's an Adventure, Charlie Brown" (1983): This is an adaptation of eight stories from the comic strip, among them "Kite," in which Charlie seeks revenge on the Kite Eating Tree; "Caddies," which finds Peppermint Pattie and Marcie be- coming golf caddies; and "Blanket," which finds Lucy trying to get rid of Linus' blan- ket – twice. "It's Spring Training, Charlie Brown" (1996): It's spring training for Charlie's baseball team and the new kid, Leland, is so small that he can't fit into a uniform. That proves to be a problem when after he helps the team win its first game, he has to quit because of – wait for it – the uniform. "Lucy Must Be Traded, Charlie Brown" (2003): Keeping with the baseball theme, Lucy annoys her way off Charlie's team, prompting a deal with Peppermint Pattie to swap her for Marcie and a pizza. When the trade proves to be a bust for both sides, it's reversed – except for the pie. "Play It Again, Charlie Brown" (1971): Here, Lucy talks Linus into playing his piano for a PTA meeting but there are un- foreseen details that prove to be intolerable for him. "Life Is a Circus, Charlie Brown" (1980): This Emmy winner for Outstanding Ani- mated Program finds Snoopy running away to join the circus after he falls for Fifi, a poodle performer. He even becomes the star of the show but when he is forced to be dyed pink, he has second thoughts.
