The 2023 participants represent 34 states (AL, AR, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MO, NC, NH, NJ, NM, NY, OH, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, VT, WI, WV, WY) and the District of Columbia. The CNC Coastal Ride was last hosted in Oriental in 2017. Oriental also hosted the Coastal Ride in 2014, 2011 and 2008. In all, this will be the fi fth time Oriental has hosted the Cycle North Carolina Coastal Ride. The fun-fi lled weekend will offer three days of cycling and feature some great Coastal Carolina food, music and historical sites. Cyclists will have many daily route options, ranging from 13-62+ miles, plus a century route to tackle on Saturday. The CNC Coastal Ride will also include many off-the- bike recreational activities in the Oriental area. Paddle boarding, kayaking, bird watching, local art displays, wine tastings and beautiful sunsets will fi ll time away from the bike and provide a taste of spring in Coastal North Carolina. The Cycle North Carolina Coastal Ride is a fully supported bicycle event with support vehicles available to aid cyclists who experience physical or mechanical breakdowns. Rest stops will be set up every 10-20 miles along each route for riders to get off their bikes and explore, while quenching their hunger and thirst. Indoor and outdoor camping areas with amenities will be provided in town at Lou Mac Park and at the participating residential properties along the waterfront. Participants will also fi ll the hotels, Bed and Breakfast Inns and vacation homes in Oriental and the neighboring towns. Cycling routes will pass by and include attractions such as the Camp Seafarer, Holt's Chapel Community Center, Temple Point Homeplace, Joe Himbry Waterfront Park in Bayboro, the Aurora Fossil Museum, R.E. Mayo Seafood, I&M Oyster Company, Squidders Store, River Dunes, Arlington Place, Bethany Christian Church, Kennel's Beach and the Cherry Branch- Minnesott Beach Ferry. Evening entertainment will be provided both nights for participants in Oriental. Friday night is the Coastal Ride Beverage Garden for all participants, featuring free beer courtesy of New Belgium Brewing Company. Live music will be offered Friday evening at the New Village Brewery & Taproom and at the Red Rooster behind the Silos. Saturday night is the offi cial CNC Coastal Ride Dinner where all participants can enjoy free beer from New Belgium Brewing Company and a complimentary catered meal from King's BBQ. During the meal, cyclists can enjoy the local band McWilliams, Hoff and Baily. Dinner, music and beer will set the scene so that cyclists can relax and unwind in Oriental's historic downtown while they catch up with friends and socialize with other riders. The Cycle North Carolina Coastal Ride is presented by Retire North Carolina. Partner organizations of Cycle North Carolina include: BODYARMOR, Capitol Broadcasting Company, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC, Harris Teeter, Truist, New Belgium Brewing Company, the N.C. Department of Transportation, and Motion Makers Bike Shop. The Cycle North Carolina Mountain Ride will be August 4-6 with camping in Lake Lure. It is also a loop ride event, with routes beginning and ending at the campsite in Lake Lure. The event begins on Friday afternoon with a 15-20 mile warm up ride that is available from 1pm to 5pm. North Carolina Amateur Sports is a 501 c (3) nonprofi t charitable organization that annually organizes the BODYARMOR State Games and Cycle North Carolina. NCAS is dedicated to the promotion of the spirit of amateur sports, physical fi tness and health to all ages and skill levels through the participation in organized events which enrich the state of North Carolina.
