It has no regard for age, schedules, plans or dreams. Death unexpectedly invades our world and once it has come and gone our world will never be the same. Before death, our life had a similitude of order and routine. What made sense doesn't anymore and what was comfortable has now been replaced with discomfort. The song of our life has been muted. Some who try to cope with the loss of a loved one often retreat to a life of solitude while trying to rekindle the feelings and memories of past experiences. They attempt to stop life from happening and refuse to take steps of emotional healing. They are doing their best to hold on to the last thread of what they can remember. The sweet melody of life has now become a song of sorrow. In the midst of our chaotic world of grief, there is the quiet voice of God whispering to our broken heart saying, "Peace, be still." Be assured that in the darkest hours of our loss, God is at work. He desires to give us hope and a reason to live. We must be willing to listen as He introduces us to a new song of comfort and grace. The Christian author Paul David Tripp said it best when he said, "God is the ultimate musician. His music transforms your life. The notes of redemption rearrange your heart and restore your life. His songs of forgiveness, grace, reconciliation, truth, hope, sovereignty and love give you back your humanity and restore your identity." Let God give you a new song in the midst of your grief.
