Born in Rutherford County on January 12, 1948, Mrs. Lail was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Bernice Harton Trexler. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Wayne Lail, one brother, Bob Trexler. She is survived by two sons, Steve Lail and wife Lois of Salem, Virginia, Michael Lail of Shelby, one daugh- ter, Julie Smith and husband, Patrick of Shelby, brother- in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry and Mary Lail, sister- in-law, Peggy Lail, life-long best friend, Renna Shook, eight grandchildren, Thomas Lail and wife Kirstin of Little Rock, Ark., Austin Lail and wife Emily of Highland, Indiana, Amber Boyd of Salem, VA, Vince Parker, Lane Parker and wife Sarah, Dustin Lail, McLane Lail and wife Loren, Emilee Smith and Travis Hunt all of Shelby, eight great grandchildren, Landree, Mallorie, Rylee Hunt, Ethan and Emberly Lail, Levi and Logan Parker, Kasen Lail, and last but not least her faithful companion and fur-baby, Stanley. Joyce was a graduate of Crest High School and Gardner-Webb University ALFRED WRAY RICHARD Alfred Wray Richard, 82, of Shelby, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023. Born in Cleveland County on January 7, 1941, he was a son of the late Bob Franklin Richard and Ethel Roper Richard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Jones Richard and three brothers, Gene Richard, Don Richard and Kenneth Richard. Survivors include two sons, Kavin Richard and wife Cathy of Shelby and Eric Richard and wife Lynn of Polkville; daughter, Amy Breen and husband Mark of Lawndale; brother, JB Richard of Shelby; and four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The graveside service was held March 29, 2023 at Union Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Michael Shumate officiating. She was born in Clarksville, GA, daugh- ter of the late Mary Jane Marsengill Jones. She is survived by her father, Fred Charles (Betty), Easley, SC; children: Amber Leigh Massey, Denver, CO, Charles Massey (Sara), Kings Mountain, NC, and Ricky Steven Massey (Joey), Gastonia, NC; sis- ters: Cindy Bumgarner (Brett), Kings Mountain, NC and Rhonda Russell (Mike), Pickens, SC; and three grandchildren. He was born January 13, 1932, in Gaston County to the late William Allen and Ava Lee Crowder Aderholdt. Mr. Aderholdt served our country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Drum Aderholdt; and siblings, James William Aderholdt, Charles Lamar Aderholdt, Dorothy A. Powell, and Jean A. Beam.
