Have questions? This article isn't just about bass fi shing stories and results. I'd like to share other types of fi shing results also. My new email address for stories is mawlovesherbabies@gmail.com Local Fishing Report Tammy Melton with Cleveland County Bass Club fi shed our 2022 top 10 fi sh off Sunday, March 26th, at Fishing Creek. The day started out cloudy then the sun came out for about 30 minutes. After that the sky opened up and the bottom fell out for HOURS. Just in case you have never been caught in a rainstorm on the lake, you need to make sure that your 100mph rain suit pocket zippers are zipped up or you're going to be soaked. That was me today. Congratulations to the top 3. Here are the results: • 1st place, Jimmy Melton, 5 fi sh, 12.12 pounds. • 2nd place, Jamie Canipe, 5 fi sh, 10.48 pounds. • 3rd place, David Moss, 5 fi sh, 8.90 pounds. Derek Barkley took big fi sh of the day with a 5.26 pounder large mouth. Some of my most vivid memories come from the days of being on the lake. I can remember catching stripe bass as fast as I could cast but I can also remember being scared to death because I had not left early enough to beat the lightning storm. It seems we always think there's enough time for one more cast. As I got older I began to value my life more. Now if there's a storm within a hundred miles, I leave. There's just something about holding a graphite rod in my hand in the middle of a lake that doesn't sit well with me. Most of my memories, however, are good. They include days on a bass boat, a pontoon, and even wading. What all of them have in common is that the greatest moments were shared with a friend. It was with these friends that I learned to eat potted meat, Vienna Sausage and Beanie Weenies. This is stuff we never eat any other time. I have learned, if you're fi shing with a friend, it's ok to hold a bologna sandwich with the same hand that just lipped that big bass. (In case you didn't know, there are no germs on the lake.) Yes, friends are what I like about fi shing. I don't have to be anything but who and what I am. All of my life I have heard about the characteristics of God. He has many titles that give evidence of those characteristics. He is known primarily as father. He is called man's deliverer, sustainer, provider, and protector. All of these have special signifi cance for special times in each of our lives. When I'm scared I need him to be my protector. When I'm broke I need him to be my provider. But of all the titles and characteristics of God, my favorite is that he is a friend. And not only a friend but a friend to anyone who wants him to be. When God became fl esh through the person of Jesus, he proved this unique desire. Of Jesus, it was written, "He is a friend of sinners." Wow! Not just a friend, but a friend to those who don't measure up to the standards of perfection. Which is me! Which is you! Which is all of us. I hope one of the pictures you have of God is a friend. If it's not, you're going to miss out on a lot of good times and good memories being with someone who accepts you for who you are. I do not like insects, especially fire ants, wasps, and flies. These bugs annoy me, and I'm afraid of wasps since I was stung a couple of times; it hurt really badly. It's hard to believe that a small critter has such a powerful weapon. These creatures prove that bigger is not always the best or most powerful. In fact, a 15,000 pound elephant is scared of a bee that weighs about 115 mg. It would take about 4000 bees to weigh one pound. The Bible talks about a few little crit- ters that we can learn from, because they do amazing things. Proverbs 30:24-28 (MSG) says, "There are four small crea- tures, wisest of the wise they are— ants—frail as they are, get plenty of food in for the winter; marmots—vulnerable as they are, manage to arrange for rock-solid homes; lo- custs—leaderless insects, yet they strip the field like an army regiment; lizards—easy enough to catch, but they sneak past vigilant palace guards." Simple and Gentle Sometimes as humans we look for the spectacular, but God is using something small, simple and gentle. He reveals this as he interacts with the Prophet Elijah. I Kings 19:11-13 (AMPC) says, "And He said, Go out and stand on the mount before the Lord. And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire [a sound of gentle stillness and] a still, small voice. When Elijah heard the voice, he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. And behold, there came a voice to him and said, "What are you doing here, Elijah?" We must ask God to help us to be more discerning and aware of what he is trying to show or teach us, especially in the little things. PRAY THIS PRAYER: "Father, you are great, mighty and brilliant. Oh, the depth of your riches and wisdom and knowledge! How unsearchable are your judgments and deci- sions and how unfathomable and untraceable are your ways! You chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; you chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. Thank you for teaching me a powerful message by using the small creatures you created as examples. Help me to pay attention to the little things around me, and discern that you could be giving me a huge revelation from something that may seem insignificant. I pray that I will always have eyes to see and ears to hear what the Holy Spirit is saying. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen." Danyale Patterson would love to hear from you!
