This exhibit is an in- troduction to "Decoration Day" and its roots within the African American Community to honor and remember Union Soldiers after the Civil War, how it evolved during World War I to expand to honor all American war fatali- ties, becoming a Federal Holiday, and being de- clared as "Memorial Day" later after World War II. This exhibit features Civil War, WWI and WWII artifacts and ephemera on display in remem- brance of residents of Cleveland County in honor of Memorial Day in 2023. Kings Mountain His- torical Museum is open Tuesday through Satur- day from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and the exhibit runs through June 3.
