On Thursday, April 6, the Rutherford County Library System is bringing leading Bigfoot investigator Mike Familant to the Mountains Branch Library in Lake Lure. Familant will speak to the live audience at 5:30 p.m. and the public is invited to share in the program. Creator and producer of the YouTube show "In the Shadow of Big Red Eye," Familant developed his series in 2016 after becoming frustrated with the lack of true research expedition shows on television. The show is currently fi lming their 7th season. In 2018, Mike also created a docu-series called "Squatchables," which was created for people who are just getting into bigfooting, sort of a "Bigfooting 101." "With a passion for bigfooting and a history in video editing, I decided to make the fi rst REAL show about what expeditions are truly about," Familant said. "You'll see raw, uncut footage of what bigfooting actually is. If there is one thing I hope people gain from this show, is for families and friends to get off the couch and outside into nature to explore what this amazing world has to offer," he said. At Mountains Branch Library the audience will see Familant live and also the presentation will be simultaneously streamed live to audiences at County Library in Spindale and Haynes Branch Library in Mooresboro. Viewers can access this event by registering and attending one of the three library locations during showtime. There is no other access during that time. Space is limited, so please register by calling 828-287-6115 or visiting the library's website at www.rutherfordcountylibrary.org/ events. Familant, an EMT, fi refi ghter and graphic designer, is a full-time bigfoot researcher, producer and lead investigator from Northwest, New Jersey. He fi rst got into bigfooting in 2011 on an expedition in North Florida, where he and a friend experienced rocks being thrown at them while sitting around a campfi re. Since then, he has made it his personal goal to fi nd out exactly what is roaming the woods of America. Mountains Branch Library is located at 150 Bill's Creek Road in Lake Lure, County Library is located at 255 Callahan Koon Road in Spindale, and Haynes Branch Library is located at 2669 Hwy 221A in Mooresboro.
