Placing fi rst or second in rounds of individual events or winning single fl ights of debate were: Jasmine Johnson, Georgia Mitchell, and Caleb Vallecillo. Chase High principal Kevin Bradley was named Carolina West Administrator of the year. Azlynn Moss placed 4th in Humorous Interpretation while Executive Offi cer Bryan Moreno took 3rd overall in the event and was named 1st alternate to Nationals. The team of Azlynn Moss and Jenna Willis was 3rd overall in duo Interpretation and received a National Qualifying bid. Azlynn is the fi rst Rutherford County Freshman to qualify for the National Tournament. East Rutherford's James Cope placed 5th overall in Humorous Interpretation, Executive Offi cer Zech Hoppes was 4th overall in Dramatic Interpretation. Zech was also named champion in Humorous Interpretation with a perfect record. He received his second consecutive National Qualifying bid in Humorous Interpretation. He is the fi rst ERHS student to qualify to back-to-back Nationals. Furthermore, Zech was named Carolina West District Student of the year; this is on top of his being named State student of the year. He is the fi rst Rutherford County student to garner both recognitions and the fi rst to do so in the same year. Zech is now in the running for the NSDA National Student of the Year. "I'm very proud of both of my teams. They set the standard of performance. I also cannot say enough about Zech Hoppes and the records he's setting. I'm not sure the school marquee is big enough to boast them. Our biggest issue now is securing the funding to make sure that our students are able to represent Rutherford County on the National stage," said Coach J.
