The hype around the tastiest of networks' newest show has been building for a while now, and come Aug. 11, "Cutthroat Kitchen" will finally see the light of day. As should be expected, coming from a network that's found great success with its slate of cooking competition shows, it thrusts chefs into a strange kitchen to test their cooking mettle with uncommon or unusual ingredients — but with an insidious twist. In "Cutthroat Kitchen," cooking skills aren't enough to win (although they're certainly a good thing to have). Each episode's four contestants are given a big wad of cash straight up, and before each challenge, they're given the opportunity to bid on culinary curveballs. And just what are these curveballs? In a sure sign that the Food Network believes it has a winner on its hands with "Cutthroat Kitchen," it has pulled out the big guns when it comes to hosting. Alton Brown, one of the network's most recognizable celebrities, will be the master of ceremonies for this underhanded gastronomic event. Probably best known for his long-running food science show "Good Eats," which now airs on the Cooking Channel, Brown's solidified his "nice guy" image as the always-charming host of "Iron 3:00 p.m. 4:30 p.m. 5:00 p.m. 5:30 p.m. 6:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. Wednesday (FOOD) Chopped: All Stars 9:00 p.m. (FOOD) Chopped: All Stars 10:00 p.m. (FOOD) Chopped: All Stars Sunday 4:00 p.m. (BRAVO) Top Chef Masters (FOOD) Barefoot Contessa 4:30 p.m. (FOOD) Barefoot Contessa 5:00 p.m. (FOOD) Sandwich King (BRAVO) Top Chef Masters (FOOD) The Pioneer Woman (FOOD) Bobby Flay's Barbecue (FOOD) Sandwich King 11:00 a.m. 11:30 a.m. Addiction 5:30 p.m. 6:00 p.m. (FOOD) Food Court Wars (BRAVO) Top Chef Masters (FOOD) Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives (FOOD) Restaurant Stakeout (FOOD) Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives (FOOD) Food Network Star (WSOT) Cooking for Busy People (FOOD) Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives (BRAVO) Top Chef Masters (FOOD) Mystery Diners 2:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. 5:30 p.m. 6:30 p.m. 7:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m. (FOOD) Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives Thursday 6:00 p.m. (FOOD) The Shed 6:30 p.m. (FOOD) The Shed 7:00 p.m. (FOOD) Food Court Wars 8:00 p.m. (FOOD) Chopped 9:00 p.m. (FOOD) Food Network Star Monday 4:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m. (FOOD) Barefoot Contessa: Back to Basics (CMT) Hell's Kitchen 4:30 p.m. (FOOD) Barefoot Contessa 5:00 p.m. (FOOD) The Pioneer Woman 5:30 p.m. (FOOD) Trisha's Southern Kitchen 6:00 p.m. (FOOD) Chopped 7:00 p.m. (FOOD) Barefoot Contessa (CMT) Hell's Kitchen (WSOT) Cooking With Gabi (FOOD) Chopped (FOOD) Barefoot Contessa (FOOD) Chopped 4:30 p.m. 5:00 p.m. (FOOD) The Pioneer Woman 5:30 p.m. (FOOD) Bobby Flay's Barbecue Addiction 6:00 p.m. (FOOD) Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives 6:30 p.m. (FOOD) Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives 7:00 p.m. Alton Brown hosts "Cutthroat Kitchen" Chef America."
