At mes playful and at others intensely provoca ve,
the cinema of Abigail Child has been a cornerstone
of the American avant-garde film movement since
the late 1970s. Poet, visual ar st and filmmaker Abi-
gail Child has absorbed the best of mentors like Jo-
nas Mekas, experimental icons like Marie Menken,
Len Lye & Arthur Lipse , and has been a trailblazer
for LGBTQIA+ ar sts alongside fellow game-changers
like Barbara Hammer and Yvonne Rainer.
The work is emo onally probing, intellectually chal-
lenging, and visually arres ng. Every image is a mas-
terful flourish filled with power, and each sounds an
alarm, a call to arms for each of us to march forward
in our own personal journey.
A destroyer of boundaries and builder of bridges, the
work traverses the finest experimental cinema and
the very best of the documentary form.
These fantas c works have been lovingly curated in
a long overdue career retrospec ve for Abigail Child,
presented at New York's Anthology Film Archives
from March 24th to the 28th, 2023.
Tickets are currently on sale by visi ng the Anthol-

Midlife - Con't from page 13
see what happens? What if we look at Midlife as a
me of growth and opportunity? What if we took it
day by day instead of looking ahead? Maybe Midlife
should be about a me to renew, rest and reboot.
It's a me to self-reflect and reevaluate. I think I will
start there.
