Life skills students and staff members set up their table and signage in the high school cafeteria and took flower orders from fellow students and staff members during lunch periods over the course of about two weeks. Buyers were able to purchase a carnation flower along with a card that they could personalize. They could wish a friend a Happy Valen- tine's Day or include a sweet note for that special someone. Where do the funds go? Gibson Southern High School's life skills students are treated to outings throughout the year, and the money raised from this particular fundraiser will go toward a fun trip to Roger's Hair Academy of Hair Design, in Evansville. Students will be treated to a haircut or, according to GSHS life skills teacher Tiffany Absher, "… will receive a pampering session of their choice (facial, scalp treatment, make-up makeover, etc). Any leftover money from this sale will go into our class- room fund to purchase needed supplies for our classroom." The life skills department is committed to their group of students. These staff members devote hours both inside and outside of the classroom to enrich the lives of this crew. They are more like a family in many respects. If you happen to catch them at the concession stand at one of the home football games or running one of the fundraisers they do throughout the school year, don't be afraid to say hello and be sure to give them your support.
