All proceeds benefit the Henri and Belinda Termeer Center for Targeted Therapies at Massachusetts General Hospital's Cancer Center. Participants can walk four routes of varying difficulty, and everyone ends at Copley Square. Start or join a team, or just register as an individual. The Jimmy Fund Walk has raised $87 million for cancer research and care since 1989, says organizer Ann Beach. jimmyfundwalk.org AD When: September 8, 5:30 AM Where: Various starting locations ACTION FOR BOSTON COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT What: Have the complete NBA experience at Hoop Dreams, a fundraising game benefiting Action for Boston Community Development. Teams will play on TD Garden's legendary floor, while former Celtics coach Doc Rivers and sportswriter Bob Ryan host. Sponsorship begins at $10,000 per team. Last year's event raised $100,000. bostonabcd.org When: September 12, 5 PM Where: TD Garden, 100 Legends Way BOSTON LYRIC OPERA What: The Boston Lyric Opera's gala opens the season with a new English adaptation of The Magic Flute. Spend a night enjoying festivities in the grand lobby before and after a performance of the show inside the theater. Last year's event raised more than $540,000 in support of Boston Lyric Opera's Emerging Artists and community programs.
