ABC's newest prime-time unscripted series, "The Parent Test," premier - ing Thursday, Dec. 15, aims to find out exactly what the ef- fects of the many different parenting styles may be. Based on the hit Austra- lian series "Parental Guid- ance," this American adap- tation follows 12 very dif- ferent families as their life- styles and parenting meth- ods are put under the micro- scope. Looking at parenting styles from helicopter to gentle to child-led and more, the families are put to the ultimate parenting stress test, sharing various learnings and emotional hot-button topics as the dif - ferent styles are compared. All the while, the families are put through a variety of situations designed to fos- ter conversations about ex- actly how they operate. "The Parent Test" is host- ed by multi-talented per- former Ali Wentworth ("Jer- ry Maguire," 1996), who moderates these impas- sioned conversations along- side parenting expert Dr. Adolph Brown, aka Doc Brown. One of America's most trusted parenting ex- perts, Doc Brown is a clini- cal psychologist, as well as a former tenured full profes- sor and master teacher, who has helped millions of fami- lies over three decades with the help of his four books and his master classes. And with an issue like parenting, which hits very close to home, viewers can expect some intense reac - tions and heartfelt conver- sations throughout the course of the series' first season.
