"It's a game changer for me," Bostic said. "I didn't even care what I hit. I was just happy to win anything." Bostic's first stroke of luck came when he en- tered his $10 Bigger $pin scratch-off into a second- chance drawing and won the chance to spin the prize wheel at the live event. "I just always felt like I would win one day," Bos- tic said. As Bostic stepped up to the big wheel to spin, colored lights flashed all around him and the crowd watching cheered him on in anticipation. When the wheel finally stopped at $ 6 0 0 , 0 0 0 , he beamed as he re- ceived his big check. A f t e r r e - quired state and federal t a x w i t h - holdings, he took home $426,060. "I'm just h a p p y t o k n o w m y funds will be secured from now on," he said. B o s - tic said he plans to use his winnings to renovate his home and take a cruise to the Bahamas. "I never thought the time would come where I could actually go," Bostic said. "I feel like I deserve it after 75 years." Bostic worked as a manager at PPG Indus- tries for 41 years before retiring in 2007. He went back to work as a house- keeper at Gardner-Webb University because he has "a passion for work." Bostic became the last person to get a chance to spin the prize wheel. In the first four Bigger $pin events, five players won prizes ranging from $400,000 to $2 million. Ticket sales from scratch-offs make it pos- sible for the lottery to raise more than $2.5 mil- lion a day on average for education. The state provided $22.8 million in grants, using money raised by the lottery, to help Cleveland County build new auditoriums at two high schools. (photo provided) Cleveland County man plans to take a cruise after $600,000 big spin Can you believe how Time has flown by? It's that time again - the Christmas Season. As the song says by Andy Williams, "It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year." An occasion when the air is filled with excitement, and many people seem to act more thought- ful, kind, or even silly. I enjoy reminiscing about holidays with family, friends, and co-workers. They were filled with laughter, a lot of food, great music, and so much more. In fact, one unforgettable, funny memory I have is when my employer hosted a white elephant gift exchange. Of course a few of the gifts were really nice, but most were prank gifts. The greatest prank gift of all was beautifully wrapped in a gigantic box. The "lucky'' individual who chose the gift was shocked when they opened it and saw that it was a toilet! Yes, a toilet! The look on my colleague's face was priceless! They kept it for an entire year until the next white elephant party. THE HEARTBEAT OF CHRISTMAS While our family traditions and joyous festivities cre- ate fond memories, we must make sure our focus is on the main reason for the season - that Christ our Savior, Healer, Deliverer was born. Isaiah 9:6 (NIV) says,"For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Jesus, who is Emmanuel, which means "God with us" came to show us how to live, and to give us a life that is full of his love, wisdom, and presence. Even the angels were excited about the gift that was given to humanity. Luke 2:13-14 (NIV) says, "Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests.'" Do you need healing, peace, or love today? Open up the gift that was freely given to you and me!!! PRAY THIS PRAYER: "Father, I praise you because you are love. Thank you for loving me so much that you gave your only son that after I believed and surrendered my life to Christ, you gave me eternal life. I gratefully declare that I believe that Jesus was born, died, and rose again for me. That's the true meaning of Christmas. Christ is the ultimate gift, and I exalt your holy name. Forgive my sins of doubt, unbelief, pride, and selfishness. Wash me from all unrigh- teousness, and fill me with the Holy Spirit. Lord, I ask you to connect my heart to yours so that I may be filled with your desires; teach me your ways so I can please you. I love you. In Jesus' name - Amen."
