Pugs Need Your Help More Than Ever This Year By Kim Smith This has been a challenging year, post pandemic as many families return to work and realize the dog they adopted is needing more, and they surrender a dog to rescue. There have been a banner number of returns of animals to shelters and rescues across the state. Tiny Paws Pug Rescue, as we prepare to close out 2022, we anticipate that we will have rescued, vaccinated, spayed/neutered and addressed the medical needs of up to 200 Pugs and Pug-mixes due to these changes. That's an increase of 33.3% over last year. The demand has been crushing, as the dogs have been dumped in school yards, fields, and in shelters. That may seem shocking as Pugs seem like a premium dog breed. Any breed that is considered "premium" is often a target in a poor economy due to their popularity and salability by unscrupulous breeders. The dogs are bred for speed with no concern for the health of the dogs, both mothers and puppies. The success of Tiny Paws Pug Rescue is a testament to the volunteers and partnerships with the rescue community. The team has strong partnerships with Santa Cruz Animal Shelter, PilotsnPaws, and local veterinarians. Partnering has allowed this little "can do" rescue to appear big, when the organization is driven by a small virtual network of committed, determined, and remarkable volunteers who offer foster homes, care and transportation. The organization is 100% volunteer based. If you would like to volunteer, please apply at www.tinypawspugrescue.org We are grateful to the community for your unwavering support of our mission of providing these beautiful homeless snub-nosed dogs necessary medical care and training while also working to educate the public on the benefits of spaying and neutering their dogs and cats. We believe these recycled pugs are certainly worthy of our time and commitment as what they give back to their new families is love. Please consider volunteering, donating, or transporting for us. Application can be found at www.tinypawspugrescue.org. Donations can be made through our website or through the QR code included. Thank you for your support. With gratitude, The whole team at Tiny Paws Pug Rescue Every act of generosity counts and everyone has something to give. There are so many different ways to express generosity on GivingTuesday and every day! It's a simple idea: whether it's making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts and everyone has something to give.
