Andrés Acebo is the proud son
of working-class Cuban exiles
and a first-generation college
graduate turned lawyer. Ace-
bo is also a higher education,
non-profit, and civic leader;
an accomplished labor and
employment attorney; and a
counselor and strategic part-
ner to governmental entities
and education institutions on
all matters of public gover-
nance, regulatory compliance,
and labor and employment
practices.
Andrés currently serves
as chief of staff and assistant
counsel at New Jersey City
University (NJCU). NJCU is an
HSI and MSI public-anchor
institution located in the cou
-
nty he grew up in, which is one
the most diverse in the Uni-
ted States. He serves on the
board of the Cuban American
Alliance for Leadership and
Education, the North Hudson
Community Action Founda-
tion, and as a deputy regional
president for the Hispanic Na-
tional Bar Association (HNBA)
and chair of the HNBA's Spe-
cial Committee on Cuba.
Andrés has published se-
veral articles concerning the
cross-section of race, law, po-
litics, and public policy in the
Columbia Journal of Race and
Law, The Brown University Po-
licy Review, the Seton Hall Le-
gislative Journal, and the Rut-
gers Race and the Law Review.
