The school is located to take advantage of all that the Blue Ridge Mountains have to offer. Over the past few weeks, students, teachers and volunteers participated in several outdoor events. Middle school students enjoyed visiting Chimney Rock State Park, South Mountain Christian Camp, Camp Lurecrest, and the Gilbert Town Overmountain Reenactment. Students enjoyed trying out the ropes courses at South Mountain and Camp Lurecrest. High School students hiked in Dupont State Forest, visited the Asheville Arboretum, or toured Kings Mountain State Park. The elementary students have visited H e n d e r s o n v i l l e ' s wonderful orchards: Sky Top, Stepp, and The Pumpkin Patch. Fourth and fi fth graders had the opportunity to extend their understanding of NC History with a visit to the Biltmore House. Moving beyond the four walls of Lake Lure Classical Academy fosters an appreciation of nature, ignites creativity, and extends the classroom experience, said a staff member.
