Rodger was born in Cleveland County, NC, son of the late John Dixon McDaniel and Annie Dixon McDaniel and was preceded in death by his wife, Orangel Parrish McDaniel; a son, Tim McDaniel; seven broth- ers, Glenn, Clyde, Naaman, Charles, William "Bill", Gerald, and Gene Brevard McDaniel; and his sisters, Josephine Sellers, Sarah Stroupe, Helen Roberts, Ruth Sanders, and Martha Ann Wright. Mr. McDaniel served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his children: Phillip McDaniel of Kings Mountain, NC, and Cindy Smith of Dallas, NC; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and brother, Durwood "Dean" McDaniel of Shelby, NC. Funeral service was held September 26, 2022 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Steve his a granddaughter. He is survived by his wife, Jo Simmons Short, of the home; daughter, Tamara Short; son, Jerry Short and wife Sandra; four grand- children; eight great-grand- children; and sister, Judy Freeman. Born in Mecklenburg County, he was the son of the late John Burl and Reola Wall Kendrick. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla Panther Kendrick, of the home; daughters, Karla Johnson and husband Andy of Earl and Angie Clark and husband Chris of Boiling Springs; son, Phil Kendrick and wife Carol of Shelby; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Funeral services were held October 2, 2022 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Andrew Corley and Dr. Cal Robertson officiating. Born November 24, 1947 in Cleveland County, NC, Ron was the son of the late Ernest Jackson Willis and Macie Lee Campbell Willis.
