Rodger was born in Cleveland County, NC, son of the late John Dixon McDaniel and Annie Dixon McDaniel and was preceded in death by his wife, Orangel Parrish McDaniel; a son, Tim McDaniel; seven broth- ers, Glenn, Clyde, Naaman, Charles, William "Bill", Gerald, and Gene Brevard McDaniel; and his sisters, Josephine Sellers, Sarah Stroupe, Helen Roberts, Ruth Sanders, and Martha Ann Wright. Mr. McDaniel served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his children: Phillip McDaniel of Kings Mountain, NC, and Cindy Smith of Dallas, NC; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and brother, Durwood "Dean" McDaniel of Shelby, NC. Born in Mecklenburg County, he was the son of the late John Burl and Reola Wall Kendrick. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla Panther Kendrick, of the home; daughters, Karla Johnson and husband Andy of Earl and Angie Clark and husband Chris of Boiling Springs; son, Phil Kendrick and wife Carol of Shelby; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
