Charlie was born Thursday, April 6, 1950 in Gaffney, SC to the late George Powell and Ruth Isabell White Powell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Roper; a brother, Marvin Powell and sister, Carolyn Barrett. Left to cherish fond memo- ries include his sons, Tony Powell (Catherine) and Timmy Powell (Lisa) all of Ellenboro; sister, Betty Canipe of Shelby; brothers, Jimmy Powell of Grover, NC, Donald Powell (Cindy) of Crowder's Mountain, NC and Billy Powell (Carol) of Mooresboro; and three grandchildren. The funeral service was held September 22, 2022 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Johnny McCarty officiating. Interment was private for the family. She was born October 7, 1953, in Cleveland County, daughter of Jean Brown Edmondson and the late D.F. Buff. Kathy is survived by her husband, Max Tesseneer Jr.; mother, Jean Brown Edmondson and husband Ricky; son, John Paul Hope and wife Leanne of Lawndale; daughters, Kim Swafford and hus- band Kelly of Mooresboro, Samantha Morrow and hus- band Michael of Grover; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sheila Buff Hopper; and her grandpar- ents. A celebration of Kathy's life was held October 7, 2022, at Westview Baptist Church, Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Scott Rudisill. He was the son of the late Darlene Davis and the late Herman Vassey, born in Shelby, NC, on March 10, 1956. Tony is survived by his wife, Donna Vassey; daugh- ters Marsha Vassey, Michele Kurkendall, and Tabatha Vassey; son, Tony Bolan; brothers: Scott Vassey (Monty) and John Davis (Michelle); eight grandchil- dren; mother of the heart Mabel Vassey, and mother- in-law, Grace Gossett. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandpar- ents, and a brother Richard Vassey. RESSIE MAE OWENS Ressie Mae Owens, 72, native of Cleveland County, NC, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2022. She is predeceased by her parents, Howard Archie and Lucille Bridges Wylie; and sister, Jessie Kay Bridges Ressie leaves behind to cherish her memories her spouse, Roger Owens and one brother, James Wylie. JOHN HENRY WRIGHT Mr. John Henry Wright, 96, of Lincolnton, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. John was born in Fallston, NC on December 5, 1925. Mr. Wright served our coun- try in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In addition to his parents he was pre- ceded in death by a son, William Jerry Wright and seven siblings. He is survived by his wife Nellie Bess Wright, son Paul Wright and his wife Tammy Wright; three grandsons and three great grandsons; daugh- ter-in-law, Patsy Wright; and his brother, Ken Wright.
